Fun in the Sun

This summer was rough.  With our air conditioning breaking repeatedly, the temperatures were horrible inside and out.  We had to rent hotel rooms various times and were never reimbursed by our landlord.  Xander and Curtis were simply miserable during those first few months that we were here in Memphis.  I am extremely grateful that despite the awful heat my boys are healthy, alive, and well.  There were several moments where the heat inside the house was potentially lethal, hence all the money we spent on hotel rooms.

I decided that I had to find a way for the kids to have some fun.  So I went out and bought inflatable toys for the boys to play with in the yard.  We definitely had some issues though.  I have a hard time blowing up things myself, Pam and Jane weren't too happy with having to do all of the work.  Due to building up water pressure in the boys I blew up a hose and an octopus toy.  Oops!

The hose did not even last that long!  In its defense I have been using that hose for various jobs since 2010.  After five years of service I guess it couldn't handle our crazy family anymore.

Since the time I took yearbook in high school I have always preferred action shots to posed shots.  As you can see these photos aren't the pretty ones of two boys looking at the camera with perfect smiles, they are photographs of my children at play.  Most of the play sessions outside in the pools were impromptu, sometimes with Xander just jumping in no matter what he was wearing.

Curtis and Xander didn't always play together in the pool.  Sometimes Curtis would be napping and Xander would get the chance to play on his own.  Xander and Curtis have bright beautiful smiles, but sometimes they take their playtime very seriously and concentrate on tasks as they experiment.
