Sea World

If you couldn't tell, I'm playing a bit of catch up with the family blog.  Things in the Maynard family have been happening non-stop since we came to Memphis and it has been difficult to maintain something like a blog.  My work has especially kept me busy, I put in a lot of 12 hour days at the school.  For awhile I was keeping a mental log of all the posts I needed to write and what I needed to say about each week that we have been here.  Yeah, that lasted about four weeks before I forgot everything.

Back in October our family took a trip to Florida.  Pamela booked it early on in the school year during our Fall Break.  Even though she was working for a charter school and I was working for the public schools our fall break was the same.  Xander's been doing extremely well in his school, Chimney Rock Elementary.  The Florida vacation was good for all of us to spend some time together.

Xander loves sea animals.  He has always enjoyed aquariums, so Sea World was the perfect place for him.  He had such a blast!

Seeing the penguins was a lot of fun, but we were confused how to get to them.  Turns out you cannot see them without going on a ride first!  The boys loved watching them swim around, eat fish, and play.

This is the stage of the first show that we went to.  This show was by far my favorite.  Dolphins, birds, and rescued whales performed alongside human trainers and dancers.  The boys were in awe of all the sights, colors, and animals.

This show was kind of fun.  There were a lot of shout outs to educators which we really appreciated.

Xander loves sharks.  For awhile that was one of the only words that he would say.  Not that surprising then that he chose this toy to bring back from Sea World.

By the time we finished our day at Sea World our little men were tuckered out.  I watched the Orca show from a special place for sleeping children.  It turned out to be my least favorite show, it has the least amount of interaction and it is the most political.

At the same time, watching the majestic animals leap was thrilling.
